Culture Minister Hannatu Musawa loses mother

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has lost her mother, Hajiya Fatima Binta Ladi Musa Musawa.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, Hajiya Fatima passed away on June 13, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on August 15, 1955, in Gusau and was widely respected for her faith, humility and dedication to family.

In accordance with Islamic rites, funeral prayers (Jana’iza) were held at the National Mosque on Saturday, after which she was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery.

She is survived by six children, including Zainab Musawa, Hadiza Ali, and Minister Hannatu Musawa, among others.

The minister, the staff of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Musawa family expressed appreciation for the condolences and prayers received from the Federal Government, colleagues, stakeholders in the creative industry and other well-wishers.

They prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and give the family the strength to bear the loss. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (“Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return”).
