Current security situation in Nigeria close to state of war – former Gov, Makarfi

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, has warned that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity is approaching a state of war, urging President Bola Tinubu to declare a national emergency on security.

Makarfi made the call during an interaction with journalists at his residence in Kaduna over the weekend, expressing concern over the increasing wave of killings, kidnappings and terrorist attacks across the country.

According to him, the current security situation has become so severe that it requires collective action from all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation.

“The current security situation is close to a state of war. We must come together and confront it as a national challenge,” Makarfi said.

He added that insecurity continues to undermine governance, economic growth and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

The former Peoples Democratic Party chairman urged the Federal Government to stop politicising insecurity and take decisive steps to address the crisis, stressing that the protection of lives and property should remain the nation’s top priority.
