Dangote Hails Ugochinyere at 44, Describes Him as Courageous Champion of Democracy

Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has congratulated the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, on the occasion of his 44th birthday, describing him as a courageous champion of democracy.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Dangote Industries Limited, Dangote described Ugochinyere as a distinguished lawyer, civil advocate and legislator whose accomplishments and contributions to national development belie his age.
He joined the lawmaker’s family, friends and well-wishers in thanking Almighty God for a life marked by remarkable accomplishments and meaningful service to the nation.
According to Dangote, Ugochinyere’s contributions to legislative governance have helped enrich democratic discourse, strengthen institutional accountability, shape conversations around energy policy and advance the broader interests of Nigeria.
The Dangote Group President particularly commended the lawmaker’s courage, describing him as a public servant who has consistently demonstrated the willingness to stand for truth and principle, even in the face of pressure and opposition.
“Mr. Chairman, you have demonstrated enormous courage in the face of undue pressure, without being concerned about how many others shared your position, but rather standing firmly with clarity, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to the interest of our dear fatherland,” Dangote said.
He added that history would remember Ugochinyere among those who defied the odds and made sacrifices in pursuit of the greater good rather than personal interest.
Quoting the Bible in Mark 10:42–45, Dangote noted that true greatness is rooted in service, saying the lawmaker had demonstrated a commitment to this principle through his public service.
He further commended Ugochinyere’s contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly his advocacy for youth empowerment, good governance and legislative independence.
“Your steadfast advocacy for youth empowerment, good governance, and legislative independence remains highly commendable,” he stated.
Dangote prayed that Almighty God would continue to grant Ugochinyere good health, greater wisdom, strength and the grace to excel in his endeavours.
He also wished the lawmaker many more years of impactful service to Nigeria and congratulated him once again on the milestone.
