Dismissed Abia security officer get not-guilty verdict, returns to office

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Deputy Director of Logistics at the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Tochi Oluebube, has formally resumed duty following the nullification of her dismissal by the Abia State Government.

Oluebube was dismissed by the agency earlier in 2026 and arraigned at the Federal High Court in Umuahia over allegations of misconduct, theft, vandalism and other offences, which she repeatedly denied.

However, an investigation team set up by the Abia State Government to review her case cleared her of the allegations, prompting the state government to nullify her dismissal.

Welcoming Oluebube back to the office in Umuahia, the Acting General Manager of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Chukwunenye Alajemba, apologised to her for the circumstances that led to her dismissal, assuring her that the state government had taken steps to restore her dignity and position.

The Acting General Manager noted that Governor Alex Otti ordered an investigation into the matter after Tochi presented her complaint. He explained that the panel’s findings showed that she had been able to establish her case.

He said the governor, acting as a responsible administrator, subsequently directed that her dignity be restored and that she be reinstated to her former position.

Explaining the circumstances surrounding her earlier dismissal, Alajemba said the decision was taken when the facts available at the time were not sufficiently clear.

“Tochi Oluebube, unfortunately, was dismissed because the facts were not too clear, and we made a decision in a hurry. And when I say ‘we,’ I mean including me. So, we all bear responsibility for what happened to Tochi.

“So, in this case, there is no victor, no vanquished. Tochi Oluebube is not a thief. You were just a victim of circumstance,” Alajemba apologised.
