The naira appreciated against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market to end the week on a positive note.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened to N1,331.19 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,332.10 recorded on Thursday.

This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the naira gained N0.91 against the dollar.

Meanwhile, at the parallel market, the naira remained unchanged at N1,385 per dollar on Friday, the same rate recorded the previous day.

During the week under review, the naira recorded both gains and losses against the dollar across the foreign exchange markets. The development comes as the country’s foreign reserves stood at $55.07 billion as of October 8, 2026.

The World Bank, in its October Nigeria Development Update, said the country’s currency outperformed other currencies in the first quarter of 2026.
