Edo Diaspora group carpets Dokubo over N2.7trn pipeline surveillance claim

BENIN CITY—The Edo in Diaspora Media Group, Thursday, challenged former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, to provide evidence of an alleged annual payment of N2.7 trillion to Mr. Osahon Okunbo, son of the late Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo.

The group said the allegation demanded credible and verifiable evidence, warning that the claim, without supporting proof, could damage Okunbo’s reputation, integrity, and standing.

Coordinator of the group, Monday Eghosa Ohuimwen, JP, advised Dokubo to stop using social media as a platform for unsubstantiated allegations and attacks on the character of another Nigerian.

According to him, “We have no interest in a war of words, nor do we seek confrontation, but we will not also sit idly by while the name and reputation of an innocent person is subjected to public attack.

“Mr. Dokubo is free to speak, but he must also be prepared to account for what he says. This campaign of calumny, unsubstantiated allegations and personal attacks must stop — now.

“Let there be no misunderstanding about this position: this is the final call for restraint. Any further publication of defamatory, threatening or otherwise unlawful material concerning Mr. Okunbo will be documented and dealt with through every appropriate legal and institutional channel available.”
