No fewer than eight persons are feared trapped in a building collapse on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Kwara capital.
The incident reportedly occurred at 5:30a.m at PopoGiwa, Madalasi Zhogoro area, off Sjikobi Road in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
According to eyewitnesses, among those trapped in the collapsed two-storey building were nursing mothers and children.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that personnel of the state fire service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and residents of the area are currently carrying out a rescue operation.
Also on the ground at the site were officials of the State Emergency Management Agency to carry out the rescue operation.
Efforts to speak with any of the officials and the police command on the incident proved futile.
