The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday concluded its senatorial primary elections across the three senatorial districts in Ekiti State, producing Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Cyril Fasuyi and Senator Yemi Adaramodu as candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The results of the primaries, held on May 18, 2026, were officially declared by the chairman of the senatorial primary election committee, Asipa Wasiu.

In the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele emerged unopposed as the party’s candidate after polling 29,586 valid votes.

In the keenly contested Ekiti North Senatorial District primary, incumbent Senator Cyril Fasuyi defeated former Senator Ayo Arise and two other aspirants to secure the APC ticket.

Fasuyi polled 14,179 votes while Senator Ayo Arise scored 4,868 votes, while Bamisaye Oladipupo garnered 3,694 votes and Oluwadare Owolabi secured 2,836 votes.

In Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Yemi Adaramodu clinched the APC senatorial ticket after polling 12,200 votes in the primary election.

His closest challenger, former Senate Minority Leader Biodun Olujimi, scored 7,420 votes, while another aspirant, Bamidele Faparusi, received 5,502 votes.

He said in part, “In Ekiti Central Senatorial District, I, Wasiu Adedoyin, Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the Ekiti South Senatorial Primary Election held on the 18th day of May, 2026.

“That Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of valid votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

“In Ekiti North Senatorial District, that Senator Cyril Fasuyi, having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District.

“In Ekiti South Senatorial District, that Senator Yemi Adaramodu having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District”.
