Yiaga Africa has said that its preliminary estimates indicate turnout for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election will fall between 34.0 per cent and 38.1 per cent, based on results collated from polling units using Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT)’s election observation methodology.

It said that if the Independent National Electoral Commission’s official turnout falls within WTV’s estimated range, then it accurately reflects the voters’ turnout at polling units.

“These estimates are based on reports from 246 to 250 (98%) sampled polling units in Ekiti State,” it said in a statement signed by the Chair, 2026 Ekiti Election Observation Mission, Aisha Abdullahi, and the Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo.

“The organisation said that it employed the PRVT methodology and deployed 250 observers and 22 mobile observers across all 16 local government areas (LGAs), as well as 16 LGA results collation observers.

“This deployment strategy enables Yiaga Africa to provide timely, independent, and evidence-based information on the election day process, commencing from the set-up, voter accreditation, voting, and counting, and to verify the official results for the 2026 Ekiti gubernatorial election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” it added.

Yiaga Africa assured the people of Ekiti State and stakeholders that it had received and processed its data from the sampled polling units and would share its findings on the results only after INEC officially announces the election results in accordance with the Electoral Act.

“While the results collation process continues, we urge INEC to ensure transparency and to adhere to the results collation guidelines.

“We also urge the security agencies to remain professional and nonpartisan as they secure the results collation process,” it added.

It, therefore, called on political parties, stakeholders, and citizens to remain calm and maintain peace as INEC collates the election results.
