Ekiti poll: Oyebanji’s victory reflects people’s confidence — Gov Adeleke

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has congratulated his Ekiti counterpart, Abiodun Oyebanji, on his decisive victory in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

In a congratulatory message issued by his spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday in Osogbo, Adeleke said the renewal of Oyebanji’s mandate reflected the people’s confidence in his leadership.

The governor described Oyebanji’s landslide victory as a testament to the acceptance of the progress recorded during his first term, noting that his re-election would provide him the opportunity to consolidate on his achievements.

“My congratulations to Gov. Abiodun Oyebanji on his decisive victory in the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti.

“The victory is a mark of acceptance of his leadership and the confidence reposed in him to deliver more progress for the state.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Osun State, I rejoice with my brother governor and share the optimism of Ekiti people that his next term will be a continuation of the impactful services that characterised his first term,” he said.

Adeleke also wished Oyebanji a successful tenure and prayed for God’s continued guidance and strength to deliver good governance to the people of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The governor was re-elected after polling 319,224 votes, defeating his closest rivals, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) , across the 16 local government areas in the state.
