EPL: David de Gea sends message to Man United after 2-0 defeat to Hull City

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has sent a message to the club following their defeat to Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 loss in their first match of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

De Gea took to X to share a message, emphasizing that ‘it is a marathon and not a sprint’ after the first defeat of the season.

He expressed confidence in Manchester United’s potential for success this season, stating, “It’s not how it starts, it’s how it ends.”

In the meantime, Michael Carrick expressed his frustration regarding the two goals conceded. He acknowledged the need to refocus on set-pieces, remarking:

“Conceding two goals is frustrating. Indeed, set-plays – we’ve been quite effective at them over time, and they determined the outcome of the game today. Clearly, there are areas for improvement.

“That’s one of them today, which is evident to mention, but overall, we’ve performed well, so one game does not alter the entire trajectory of our efforts. We recognize that, yet we must remain conscious of what we need to enhance.”

Carrick further noted that the team is already anticipating the next match, asserting that they cannot allow the loss to impact their mindset as they progress through the season. He emphasized the importance of taking it week by week.

Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy netted the goals.
