Chelsea icon, John Terry, has predicted the club’s first five games of the new season, expressing confidence that the Blues will be contenders for the title in October.
Chelsea, who ended last season in 10th place with 52 points, will enter a new chapter under head coach Xabi Alonso starting this Monday.
The club has invested nearly £350 million this summer, acquiring players such as former Arsenal target Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Geovany Quenda.
As the 2026-27 Premier League season approaches, Terry has predicted that his former team will achieve a 2-1 victory against Fulham on August 24.
Importantly, he believes that the Reece James-led squad will earn a point at Arsenal’s ground on September 6.
In a TikTok discussion, the former captain of the Blues stated (h/t Metro), “For (Alonso), it is crucial to start with a win, as that can generate momentum.
“As players, confidence is key, and you can sense the momentum; you can feel when things are going well. If the atmosphere off the pitch and within the club is positive, which it is, as I have experienced myself, it is palpable.”
Terry, who made 717 appearances for Chelsea, continued, “Moreover, we have more talented players returning from the World Cup who have yet to join the first team. There is much to be excited about.
“Considering the first five matches, I would anticipate three to four victories and possibly a couple of draws. I predict a strong start, with Chelsea positioned at the top of the league after five games.”
