Manchester City manager, Enzo Maresca, has given reasons he won’t pick Erling Haaland as his captain.
Maresca replaced Pep Guardiola at the Etihad this summer.
One of his first tasks will be to decide who wears the armband, with Bernardo Silva joining Real Madrid and Rodri set to sign for Barcelona.
Haaland and Maresca enjoy a good relationship, with the Norway striker keeping in touch with the City’s former assistant coach since 2023.
But Haaland will not be first choice to be skipper, with Ruben Dias looking like the favourite.
“At Leicester and Chelsea, I had a rule that when we scored, the captain had to come to the bench for instructions,” Maresca told the Daily Mail.
“If Erling is the captain, f****** hell, we have a problem. Can you imagine?
“If you saw in the game here, Ruben (Dias) came over to the bench.”
