EPL: Xabi Alonso makes one huge demand from Chelsea

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has made a significant request to Chelsea as he prepares for a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

This request seems substantial coming from the ex-Real Madrid coach, especially since Blueco, the owners of Chelsea, manage their transfer activities independently.

There were speculations about Alonso returning to his previous club, Liverpool, but it seems the Reds do not require a new manager, as their owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have opted to retain Arne Slot.

As reported by The Touchline, Alonso is confident that he can elevate Chelsea to the same level as Paris Saint-Germain under the guidance of manager Luis Enrique.

However, according to the account with 1.6 million followers on X, Alonso has insisted on having ‘full control over the squad and key sporting decisions’.

The Touchline shared on X, “EXCLUSIVE: Xabi Alonso is optimistic about building a project at Chelsea akin to the one Luis Enrique has established at Paris Saint-Germain.

“One of Xabi Alonso’s primary requests to Chelsea is to secure full control over the squad and key sporting decisions.

“BlueCo has learned from their previous experiences with Enzo Maresca and is prepared to grant Alonso that authority.”
