Former Majority Leader of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly representing Mbagwa State Constituency, Saater Tiseer, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman, Mbaanyam Ward, Ushongo Local Government Area, Tiseer said he was quitting the party with immediate effect, citing impunity and injustice within the Benue State chapter.
The former Majority Leader, who described himself as a foundation member of the APC, said he joined the party from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) during the 2014 merger. He said he was registered under membership ID APC072205000345 in the renewed register of Mbaanyam Ward dated January 27, 2026.
He recalled that he was elected into the 10th Benue State House of Assembly and served as Majority Leader between June 2023 and September 2025.
Tiseer said he contested for re-election in the APC primaries in April 2026 and allegedly won with popular votes in all six council or electoral wards of Mbagwa Constituency, including Mbaawe, where the APC candidate was allegedly announced fraudulently.
He said that instead of expending his energy on litigation, he decided to activate his constitutional rights as a Nigerian under Chapter IV, Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The former lawmaker quoted the relevant section of the Constitution, which states that every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons and, in particular, may form or belong to any political party for the protection of their interests.
He insisted that the APC in Benue State had degenerated into promoting impunity to the highest degree.
According to Tiseer, his interests and quest for justice could no longer thrive in the party, prompting him to tender his resignation and disengage from the APC while possibly seeking compatibility in another association or political party.
He, however, expressed respect for the chairman, ordinary members of the APC in Ushongo LGA and the party nationwide, wishing them well.
Tiseer’s resignation comes amid growing concerns over the outcome of party primaries in several constituencies ahead of the next elections.
