Former Super Eagles defender Chikelue Iloenyosi has been re-elected Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), securing another four-year term after polling all twenty-three votes cast at the Association’s elective congress. Iloenyosi, who was the sole candidate for the position, received the unanimous endorsement of the twenty-three accredited delegates.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Uche Okeke, announced the results, declaring the former international winner of the election. In the contest for Vice Chairman, Johnson Ifejika defeated the incumbent, Aniekwenam, by nineteen votes to four.

Also elected were board members representing the state’s three senatorial districts. Ralph George and Obi Moneke emerged for Anambra Central, while Michael Igboka and Emmanuel Azubuike Okeke were elected for Anambra North. Michael Mbaezue, Donatus Ezeokafor, and Ijeoma Nwosu, Rtd, will represent Anambra South on the new board.

Representing the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Muhamed Ameenu, commended the peaceful conduct of the congress and urged the newly elected officials to remain committed to the growth of football in the state.

In his acceptance speech, Iloenyosi thanked the delegates for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an inclusive administration that would unite stakeholders and work closely with the Anambra State Government and sports writers to strengthen grassroots football development and restore the state’s prominence in Nigerian football.

Delegates from the twenty-one local government areas of the state, as well as representatives of the Coaches Association and the Players’ Union, participated in the congress, which ended with the presentation of certificates of return to the successful candidates.
