FCT projects: ‘Don’t collect our money if you can’t work – Wike warns contractors

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, warned local contractors against collecting money and not completing projects within the capital city.

Wike warned that contractors who can’t work during the rainy seasons should not apply for funds from the FCT Administration.

He spoke during the commissioning of the newly constructed Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, Building to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year anniversary.

The president was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event.

However, Wike said: “I’m happy today because when the contract was awarded to a local contractor, I was a bit worried and I called the Managing Director, whom I have known and said, ‘you know that I do not have friends when it comes to, the job, if you want to be my friend make sure that this job is completed and on time’.

“I always said that if I pay you money during the rainy season, ensure that you complete the work during the rainy season, because there is no need if you are not going to work during the rainy season, that you collect our money and put it in the bank and make interest.

“If you know that you will not work during the rainy season, leave our money alone to stay with us and when the dry season comes, we will pay you.”
