ABUJA — Minister of Power, Engr. Joseph Tegbe, on Monday dismissed reports that the Federal Government plans to withdraw electricity subsidies or increase electricity tariffs from next year.
Tegbe made the clarification at a press briefing in Abuja to mark his first 100 days in office.
The minister said the government had no plan to introduce any tariff increase that would further burden Nigerians.
According to him, the government’s priority is to improve electricity supply and ensure Nigerians get better service without imposing additional financial pressure on consumers.
He said the government would continue to work towards improving power generation, transmission and distribution to provide more reliable electricity across the country.
