Fire outbreak rocks SPAR outlet in Calabar

CALABAR- THE popular shopping outlet in Calabar, SPAR is experiencing fierce fire outbreak this Saturday morning.

The fire outbreak which is right inside the emporium has sent smoke bellowing across the city. Fierce flames can be seen from Barracks road , some one hundred yards away from the scene of the outbreak.

The cause of the outbreak is not known but inside the emporium a lot of activities like baking of bread, cooking of dishes and electrical activities do take place.

“About three fire service trucks have arrived. They are trying to pump water from SPAR borehole to try to put out the fire. It is not known if anybody is trapped inside but there is confusion here at the car park”. Victoria, a journalist at the scene of the outbreak told Vanguard

She said the fire service officials at the scene refused to respond to any questions.

SPAR an Indian groceries outlet is located at the heart town close to the Calabar Watt Market and the popular Bogobiri , the Hausa -Fulani residential area in Calabar. It began operation in 2012.
