Nigeria’s Flamingos secured a berth at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup following a 5-3 victory over Benin Republic at the Stade de Kégué, Lomé on Saturday.

Akeem Busari’s side won the final qualifying round contest 8-5 on aggregate.

The visitors took the lead through Mark Akpan after just six minutes, while Romaine Gandonou equalised for Benin five minutes.

Nigeria went into the break with a two-goal lead courtesy of two more  strikes from Esther Enne Stephen, and Queen Joseph.

Joseph further  increased the advantage from the penalty spot nine minutes after the break.

Benin rallied with two goals from Hermionne Lokossou, and Gandonou to make the scoreline 4-3.

Joseph however scored her third of the game 14 minutes from time to ensure the Flamingos return home with an away win.
