As part of effort to take healthcare delivery to the people of the grassroots in Kwara State, a non governmental organisation, Eniobanke Foundation for Humanity has provided free medical outreach to over 3,000 residents of Ilorin on different kinds of ailments.
The outreach which commenced at Emir’s palace, Ilorin on Wednesday will come to an end on Friday at Tanke area of Ilorin, the state capital.
Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on the sideline of the event held at Ilorin Emir’s palace, the Director of Programme of the foundation, Mr. Quadri AbdulSamad said that,
“Foundation is borne out of passion for service to
humanity and to give back to the society, with over 3,000 residents will be benefiting at the three days free medical outreach in Ilorin.
“It is also due to the foundation’s love for the people so as to boost their socio well being and to bring them closer to health care delivery and it is holding inconjuction with the Federal Medical Center, Markudi in Benue State.
“It is a free health outreach programme that would assist the residents of Ilorin to have access to free healthcare delivery without hindrance.
“The event will take three days and end at Tanke area of Ilorin with no fewer than 3, 000 residents of Ilorin having access to free medical service”.
Abdulsamad explained further that, the outreach was part of the mandate of the foundation to bring quality medical attention to the less privileged people in the society.
He said that, the outreach would assist the people suffering from different kinds of ailments to have access to medical attention from the qualified medical personnel recruited for the exercise.
AbdulSamad stated that, the exercise would also allow the medical personnel to embark on the testing of the beneficiaries and provide drugs free of charge to them while those that cannot be treated there would be referred to the appropriate medical centers.
He also said about seven states of the country, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Cross River, Delta and Plateau would also benefit from the outreach is inconjuction with the Federal Medical Center, Markudi, Benue State.
Also speaking, the Medical Coordinator ot the outreach, Mr. Ibrahim Saddiq, said that, “We are basically to give back to the society through provision of free medical care to the beneficiaries.
“And we are going run test on HIV, High blood pressure, eyes, sugar among others..
“The beneficiaries would be allowed to see the Medical personnel recruited for the exercise.
“After the medical treatment, the beneficiaries would be provided with free drugs and those that are above the medical personnel would be referred to specialist hospital for proper attention”.
Most of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen lauded the humanitarian gestures of the foundation.
They said that the free medical outreach would reduce current burden of many households due to the present economic crunches in the country.
