Friendly: Sand Eagles stumble again against Senegal

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Nigeria’s Sand Eagles suffered a second consecutive 6-4 defeat to Senegal in a friendly beach soccer encounter at the Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Pitch in Kaduna on Monday.

The result followed Senegal’s identical 6-4 victory over Nigeria in the first friendly played at the same venue last Saturday.

Hassan Abdullahi, who scored all four of Nigeria’s goals in the opening game, found the net once again, while Hamza Manga, Sodiq Umar and Hassan Abubakar also got on the scoresheet for the Sand Eagles.

Senegal’s goals came from Man of the Match Oussaynou Faye, Libasse Mbaye, Mamadou Sylla, Assane Ba and Mandione Laye Diagne, while Nigeria’s Godspower Igudia also scored an own goal.

The two friendly matches are part of Nigeria’s preparations for their CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) qualifying tie against Ghana later this month.

Nigeria will host Ghana in the first leg of the qualifying tie in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10, before travelling to Accra for the return leg on Saturday, October 17.

The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the 2026 BSAFCON.
