The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kebbi Sector Command, has intensified enforcement against overloading and other traffic violations across the state under its ongoing special operation aimed at improving road safety and reducing crashes.
The Kebbi State Sector Commander, Rukayya Zakaria, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
According to her, the exercise, which began on July 20, is targeting critical traffic offences, including overloading, mixed loading, route violations, tyre-related offences and other infractions that pose risks to road users.
Zakaria said the operation, codenamed “Daidaita Lodi” and “Lodi Limit,” is being carried out simultaneously across the FRSC’s seven operational units in Kebbi State.
She revealed that the command has so far apprehended 39 vehicles for various traffic offences since the commencement of the enforcement exercise.
The sector commander explained that the operation is designed to improve compliance with road safety regulations, reduce road crashes and safeguard the lives of motorists and other road users.
She added that the exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
According to Zakaria, the intervention patrol forms part of the FRSC’s periodic nationwide enforcement operations, which are conducted weekly, monthly or quarterly, depending on directives from the Corps Headquarters.
She urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations by avoiding overloading and speeding and ensuring their vehicles are roadworthy to promote safer highways across Kebbi State.
