Fulani man threatens Benue residents in viral video over Ardo Risku’s killing

Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

A yet-to-be-identified Fulani man has threatened that the people of Benue State would “regret” the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, in the state, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isa.

The man, whose identity could not be independently verified, made the threat in a video circulating on social media days after the killing of the MACBAN chairman.

Recall that Ardo Risku was killed last week while returning from a peace meeting reportedly convened by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Ohimini Local Government Area to address security concerns involving farming communities and Fulani herders.

In the viral video, the speaker described the late MACBAN chairman as a key figure within the Fulani community, claiming that killing him was equivalent to killing their President.

“Benue people will regret this. Killing this man (Ardo) is like killing our own President. It would have been better to kill the President and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, than to kill this man,” he said.

The man further claimed that Ardo Risku played a major role in promoting peace and resolving conflicts in Benue State.

“This man was a peace lover. He stopped many crises in Benue. Killing him is the greatest mistake Benue people have made. You people of Benue will regret this,” he added.

The authenticity of the video and the identity of the speaker could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

The video has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users calling on security agencies to investigate the threat and take appropriate action to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order.
