Jigawa University receives 100 laptops from NITDA

The Federal Government has begun accepting applications for its Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, giving eligible Nigerians the opportunity to obtain smartphones, laptops and tablets through consumer credit.

The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. It is designed to improve access to digital devices while encouraging the use of locally assembled products.

For the current pilot phase, applicants must satisfy several requirements before they can be considered for the scheme.

1. State of residence is required

Applicants must indicate the state where they currently live by selecting from Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The information will be used to profile applicants and manage the programme nationwide.

2. Employment details must be provided

The application requires applicants to state their current employment status.

The available categories include:

  • Salary earner
  • Freelancer or self-employed
  • Business owner
  • Student
  • Job seeker
  • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member

Applicants may also disclose their monthly income, although this section is optional. Income brackets range from below N100,000 to more than N1 million.

3. Applicants must be part of an eligible digital skills programme

The first phase of the initiative is currently limited to participants in the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.

However, the application portal also lists several other digital training programmes, including:

  • Andela Learning Community
  • Learn2Earn
  • ALX
  • HNG Internship
  • AltSchool Africa
  • Genesys Tech Hub

Their inclusion suggests the programme could be expanded to participants from these organisations in future phases.

4. Applicants must choose a device and explain its intended use

Those applying must indicate whether they are requesting a smartphone, laptop or tablet.

They are also required to explain how the device will be used. The available options include:

  • Learning and professional certifications
  • Remote work
  • Freelancing
  • Software development
  • Business expansion
  • Content creation
  • School and other educational purposes

Applicants can select multiple reasons where applicable.

5. Applicants must agree to verification

Before submitting the application, applicants must confirm that the information they have supplied is accurate.

They must also consent to being contacted about their application and authorise CREDICORP and its partners to verify the submitted information to determine their eligibility for the credit facility.

6. Applicants must indicate how they heard about the programme

As part of the application process, applicants are required to state how they became aware of the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme.

The available options include:

  • 3MTT
  • Social media
  • Friend or family
  • School
  • Employer
  • Google Search
  • Other

This information forms part of the application details that must be completed before submission.

How to apply

Visit the website. Go to credicorp.ng/clickd, the official C.L.I.C.K.D. landing page.
Click “I’m Interested.” This takes you to the application form.
