EFFURUN, Delta State Prospective students who missed the first Post UTME screening exercise of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, FUPRE, have been given another chance to pursue admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The university has announced a supplementary screening exercise scheduled for August 24 and 25, providing a fresh opportunity for qualified candidates who were unable to participate in the initial exercise held between July 21 and 25.
The latest admission window also accommodates candidates who initially selected other institutions but now wish to make FUPRE their first choice through the prescribed change of institution process.
Registration for the supplementary screening will close on Sunday, August 23, with candidates required to complete the process through the university’s admission portal and pay a screening fee of N2,000.
FUPRE stipulated a minimum UTME score of 160 for candidates seeking to participate in the exercise.
Applicants are also required to have selected FUPRE as their first choice or successfully changed their institution of choice to the university.
In addition, candidates must possess at least five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
The university said applicants must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, while accepted O’Level qualifications include SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB.
The supplementary exercise could prove significant for admission seekers who may have missed the first screening or are reconsidering their university options as the 2026/2027 admission process progresses.
FUPRE, established in 2007, is Nigeria’s specialised university for petroleum and energy related education and has expanded its academic offerings to include programmes in science, engineering, technology, computing, maritime studies, petroleum administration and management.
The university currently has 32 undergraduate programmes spread across five colleges and is recognised as Africa’s first specialised petroleum university and the sixth of its kind globally.
Meanwhile, the institution has urged eligible candidates to complete their registration before the deadline, stressing that those who participated in the initial screening exercise from July 21 to 25 are not required to participate in the supplementary exercise.
Candidates have also been advised to regularly check the university’s admission portal for updates on the screening and subsequent admission process.
