Jos – Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has approved a restructuring of the state’s security architecture with the appointment of retired Brigadier General Nash Yakubu as Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, the state-owned security outfit.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Jatau.

According to the statement, Brig.-Gen. Yakubu (Rtd) brings over three decades of military experience, having served in various local and international operations during his 35-year career in the Nigerian Army.

“His service record includes participation in operations linked to the MASSOB and IPOB crises, peacekeeping assignments in Sierra Leone and Sudan, as well as deployments in Nigeria’s North-East.”

The governor also approved the redeployment of Brig.-Gen. Gakji Shipi Goshwe (Rtd) as Coordinator of the Safe School Programme.

Until the redeployment, Goshwe served as Acting Coordinator of Operation Rainbow while also holding the position of Special Adviser to the Governor on Security.

In a related development, Governor Mutfwang approved the appointment of Maj.-Gen. Bala A. Isandu (Rtd) as Special Adviser on Security.

The statement noted that Isandu previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Intelligence to the Minister of Defence and had also held leadership responsibilities at the Defence Intelligence Agency, in addition to participating in several local and international assignments during his military career.

The government said the appointments take immediate effect and are aimed at strengthening the state’s security framework, improving protection of lives and property, and reinforcing safety measures in educational institutions across Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence in their experience and professionalism, urging them to deploy their expertise in advancing the administration’s vision of a peaceful, secure and prosperous Plateau State.
