Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has hit back at those he termed critics using social media to undermine his administration’s achievements ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Speaking at a cultural event, Governor Nwifuru expressed dismay over claims that his government has underperformed during its nearly three years in office.
He urged citizens to reject politically motivated narratives that distort the reality of his administration’s accomplishments.
“We have completed more than 500 kilometres of roads across the 13 Local Government Areas,” Governor Nwifuru said.
“We have constructed roads connecting other states along with span bridges. I am shocked that people are saying we have not done anything for the state within the last three years in office.”
The Governor cautioned against using online platforms to mislead the public and discredit leadership for partisan gains.
“People should not leverage social media to castigate our leaders and deny our sincere performances all in the name of politics,” he added.
Transitioning to political zoning and governance structures, Governor Nwifuru highlighted efforts to maintain political stability and harmony within the state, specifically referencing power distribution in Izhi clan, a major political bloc in Ebonyi North.
“In the context of 2027, we have balanced power among the two kindreds in Izhi Land for the sake of equity and social justice,” he explained.
“No one should fight against this established order.”
He further warned against divisive elements attempting to disrupt political cohesion and traditional governance principles.
“Those working against the established order and causing disaffection are strange elements, as these are not Izhi grundnorms,” Nwifuru stated.
“We must resist them.”
