Gov Sule Relieves Six Commissioners In Nasarawa Cabinet Reshuffle

 

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved a minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council, relieving six commissioners of their appointments as part of efforts to reposition his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was announced on Tuesday after the fifth State Executive Council meeting of 2026, held at the Government House in Lafia and presided over by the Governor.

Addressing members of the council, Governor Sule dismissed speculations that his administration was planning a total dissolution of the cabinet.

He explained that only a limited reshuffle and other strategic adjustments would be undertaken to strengthen governance and prepare the government for the next phase of its agenda.

The Governor commended members of the Executive Council for their commitment and contributions to the development of Nasarawa State. He also congratulated Nasarawa Amazons Football Club on emerging champions of the 2026 President Federation Cup, describing the achievement as a source of pride for the state.

Briefing Government House correspondents after the meeting, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, said six commissioners had been relieved of their appointments to create room for fresh appointments.

The affected ministries are the Ministry of Security and Sundry Matters; the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; the Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing; the Ministry of Science and Technology; the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism; and the Ministry of Lands and Survey.

Magaji expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and service to the state, noting that the Governor had acknowledged their contributions during their tenure.

He added that the names of the new commissioners would be announced in due course after the necessary processes had been concluded.

The cabinet reshuffle is expected to strengthen the administration’s efforts to consolidate ongoing projects and improve service delivery as it enters the final phase of Governor Sule’s tenure.
