Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) has issued a caution alert over the collapse of a section of the Bauchi-Damaturu-Maiduguri federal highway.
In a statement on Monday, the agency said a significant portion of the road was washed off near the Darazo exit, rendering the route impassable.
Photos from the scene show the road completely cut into two, with floodwater gushing underneath, forcing motorists to halt.
“As of Sunday, 27th September 2026, a significant portion of the Bauchi-Damaturu road has been cut off near the Darazo exit,” it said.
Yobe SEMA advised motorists plying the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri corridor and those travelling from Kano to Gombe to exercise extreme caution, suspend journeys where possible and take necessary safety precautions.
“Motorists travelling along the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri route or from Kano to Gombe are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and take all necessary safety precautions,” the agency advised.
The agency urged road users to stay safe and await further updates on alternative routes and intervention efforts.
