Arsenal defender, Ben White, has revealed that the club’s new signing Christos Tzolis has outperformed all others with his remarkable results during pre-season testing.
Arsenal finalised a £34 million agreement with Club Brugge for Tzolis as club officials swiftly acted to address the gap left by Leandro Trossard’s recent transfer to Besiktas.
The 24-year-old Greek international arrives in north London with an outstanding reputation from his two-year tenure in Belgian football, where he accumulated a total of 21 goals and 28 assists across 45 matches.
The former Norwich player has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions, securing his position at the club until 2031.
Arsenal supporters had the opportunity to witness Tzolis in action for the first time in their colours this past weekend, as Mikel Arteta’s squad commenced their busy pre-season schedule with a convincing 4-1 victory over Girona.
The left winger was selected to start in Spain and made an immediate impact, troubling the opposing defence throughout the match and scoring his first-ever goal for Arsenal to double his team’s lead at the half-hour mark.
Defender White commented on Tzolis, stating, “Christos has been incredible. He arrived, completed all the testing, and surpassed everyone.
“He is integrating very well, and everyone is genuinely pleased to have him here.”
Tzolis will undoubtedly aim to build on his impressive debut performance on Wednesday when Arsenal continues their hectic pre-season schedule with a friendly match against Real Betis in Dublin.
