The Federal Government has introduced a fully automated system for the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, allowing applicants to complete the process online without visiting the Federal Ministry of Education physically.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced the development as part of efforts to simplify access to government services and reduce delays associated with the traditional process.
Under the new system, applicants can submit their requests and complete the credential evaluation and authentication process through the Ministry’s dedicated online platform.
Education Minister, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the initiative represents an important step in the Federal Government’s digital transformation programme and is aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the Ministry, the automated system is designed to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, speed up processing and improve transparency in academic credential verification.
The system is also expected to make the service more accessible to Nigerians and applicants living outside the country.
How to evaluate and authenticate your academic certificate online
Applicants who need the Federal Ministry of Education to evaluate or authenticate their academic credentials can follow these steps:
1. Visit the official online platform

Why the Federal Government introduced the online system
The Ministry said the automation is aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays and making academic certificate verification more convenient.
It is also expected to strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification system.
Beyond individual applicants, the system will provide a more structured way for institutions, employers and other stakeholders to verify academic qualifications.
Dr Alausa said the Ministry would continue to use technology to modernise education governance, improve institutional efficiency and provide services centred on the needs of citizens.
