Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has said he has no sleepless nights over governance, expressing confidence that his administration is doing the right thing while promising to deliver maximum votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Lawal spoke during a media chat on Monday, where he was asked whether there were unfinished tasks in his administration that kept him awake as governor.

The governor said he was not a desperate politician and remained confident about his political future based on what his administration had achieved.

“I’ve never had sleepless nights. First of all, I am not a desperate politician, and based on what we have done, I am 100% convinced that 2027, by the grace of Almighty Allah, nothing will change. So there’s nothing to fear,” he said.

Lawal said he was satisfied with the direction of his administration and the response of residents to its activities.

“I sleep very well. I’m happy. I’m healthy. You know, at my age and everything, no ailment whatsoever. That’s to tell you that, under any circumstances, I sleep. I never, never had sleepless nights over governance because we’re doing the right thing,” he said.

The governor also said his administration had received the support of the people of Zamfara State, who, according to him, had embraced its transformation agenda.

On the number of votes Zamfara would deliver for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, Lawal said he could not put a specific figure on it but promised to secure the highest possible votes for the President.

“Politics is like a pregnant woman, especially in those pre-days when you can even assess what you have. It’s only when you deliver that you will know the sex of the baby,” he said.

Lawal said his focus was on Zamfara and that he could only speak for the state.

“I am for Zamfara State. All I’m saying is, by the grace of Almighty Allah, I will deliver maximum votes to Mr President. I can’t speak for any other state,” he said.

He added that Zamfara would give Tinubu more votes in 2027 than it did in the 2023 presidential election.

“I mean, we’ll give him the highest, more than what we did in 2023. By God’s grace, it will happen,” the governor said.
