I was excluded from baby showers invite – Mo Bimpe

Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has opened up about the emotional pain she experienced during her fertility journey, revealing that she was deliberately excluded from social gatherings involving children because she had yet to become a mother.

The actress shared the experience in an Instagram post after attending the first birthday celebration of Iyabo Ojo’s grandson, Rakeem. Reflecting on how far she has come, Bimpe said the occasion brought back memories of a difficult period in her life.

According to her, she stopped receiving invitations to baby showers, naming ceremonies and children’s birthday parties, with some people she knew personally intentionally leaving her out because she did not have children.

She said, “There was a time when I wasn’t invited to baby showers, naming ceremonies, children’s birthdays, or anything related to kids. Sometimes, these were people I knew personally.

“People I laughed with, worked with, and genuinely cared about. I remember wondering what I had done wrong. Later, I found out that some people intentionally left me out because I didn’t have children.”

Bimpe described the experience as deeply painful, stressing that her struggle to conceive was already difficult without having to deal with rejection from people close to her.

“At the time, it hurt deeply. Not because I wanted pity, but because I loved children. I wanted to celebrate with people. I wanted to share in their joy,” she said.

The actress added that the fertility journey came with its own emotional challenges, including questions, insults, waiting and silent prayers.

“What many people don’t realise is that struggling to conceive is already hard enough. The waiting is hard. The questions are hard. The insults are hard. The silent prayers are hard,” she said.

Now a mother of triplets, Bimpe urged people to be more compassionate towards women experiencing fertility challenges, warning against excluding them from celebrations simply because they do not have children.

“Please don’t make it harder by excluding people. A woman without a child is not less deserving of love, friendship, inclusion, or celebration. Invite her. Love her. Celebrate with her. You never truly know what someone is carrying behind their smile,” she said.

Sharing her story as a source of encouragement, the actress also addressed women currently trying to conceive, telling them not to lose hope.

“And to every TTC woman reading this today, I want you to know that your story is not over. There was a time I had no child. Today, I am a mother of triplets. The same God who remembered me has not forgotten you.

“I know the waiting can feel long. I know there are days when your faith feels tired. I know there are moments when it seems like everyone else is moving forward. But please don’t give up. Hold on. Keep believing. Keep hoping. Your testimony is not impossible.”

Bimpe said her experience taught her that circumstances can change unexpectedly, encouraging women waiting for their own testimonies to remain hopeful.

“If there is one thing my life has taught me, it is that God can change a story faster than anyone expects. What feels delayed is not denied. And when your time comes, it will be beautiful,” she added.

The actress concluded by sending prayers and encouragement to women on their fertility journeys, assuring them that their struggles do not diminish their worth.
