Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has hinted at the possibility of taking a break from music.

Speaking during an appearance on ‘The Uncut Podcast’, Davido said he does not intend to remain in the spotlight at 40 years while competing with artistes in their 20s.

The singer stressed that his comments should not be interpreted as a call for established musicians to quit the industry.

“Music is my blood but I’m not going to be 40 still dragging with guys in their 20s. Jay-z took a break and he is doing his thing,” he said.

According to the singer, he could step away from music for an extended period and still return to massive success because of his established catalogue.

“I can take a 10yrs break and still do a 50-arena tour. I have the catalogue. I might decide not to make another song for the rest of my life, and nobody is touching my catalogue,” the singer stated.

The 33-The 33-year-old further stated that music should serve as a platform for artistes to explore other opportunities beyond performing and recording.

“All I am saying is there are other things music should be able to help you branch out into,” Davido added.
