Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, popularly known as CDQ, has claimed that he is a better rapper than veterans Olamide, Phyno and MI combined.
Speaking in a recent episode of the Faloh Frequency podcast, the ‘Nowo Soke’ crooner, however, said his colleague, Blaqbonez, is better than most Nigerian rappers.
“I am a better rapper than Blaqbonez, Phyno, Olamide and MI combined,” he said.
CDQ emphasised that popularity or commercial success does not determine how good a rapper is, but rather lyrical substance.
He claimed that he has better lyrical quality and depth than most of his colleagues.
His claim sparked mixed reactions after a clip of the interview recently went viral on social media, with many berating him for “disrespecting veteran rappers” by claiming to be better than them.
Despite the backlash, CDQ has not clarified or retracted his statement.
