Colombian superstar, Shakira has revealed why she chose to collaborate with Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy on the 2026 FIFA World Cup song, ‘Dai Dai.’
Featuring in a recent episode of the Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill, Shakira explained that she needed a masculine vocal on the song and Burna Boy’s energetic vocals made him the perfect choice for collaboration.
She added that she has always been obsessed with working with Burna Boy.
“I have always loved Burna. I was obsessed with getting him on the track, so I called him,” she explained.
The pop star relished the collaboration, stressing that she “couldn’t imagine anybody else on it, actually.”
DAILY POST reports that since its release, ‘Dai Dai’ has shattered many global music records including becoming the first song to rank number 1 on Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart.
The song also made Burna Boy the first African artist to reach number on Apple Music Global Top Songs chart.
It also gave Burna Boy the record of the African artist with the most monthly listeners in history both on Spotify and YouTube Music, 53 million and 600 million, respectively.
Burna Boy also became the first African artiste to perform at the newly introduced World Cup Final Halftime Show.
