Iran offered concessions in nuclear talks, admits no final agreement yet – Trump

United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran made concessions during ongoing nuclear negotiations, while later acknowledging that no binding agreement has been finalized between both sides.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated that Washington had secured commitments from Tehran but stressed that the real challenge would be ensuring Iran follows through on them.

“We’ve gotten concessions, now they have to stick to those concessions,” he stated.

The US president also maintained that the United States would eventually gain access to Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, despite Iranian officials never publicly confirming such an arrangement.

Trump further argued that the objective of the recent military campaign against Iran was not aimed at overthrowing the country’s leadership.

His comments appeared to contrast with earlier remarks made at the start of the US-Israeli bombing offensive, when he encouraged Iranians to reclaim control of their government after the attacks.

“We’re close to maybe making a deal. I don’t know,” Trump said. “We’re going to win one way or another. Either we reach a deal, or we finish the job.”

Despite the president’s remarks, direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran are currently on hold following a pause agreed upon during funeral ceremonies for slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Trump added that he preferred a diplomatic resolution, saying he wanted to avoid further suffering for Iran’s population of more than 90 million people.

However, he warned that broader strikes on Iran’s civilian infrastructure could still be considered if the situation escalates.
