Air platforms of Operation HADIN KAI have reportedly destroyed two Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, gun trucks and inflicted casualties on fighters during air strikes in Aduwa village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the strikes were conducted on August 21, 2026, against suspected ISWAP fighters operating around the Lake Chad axis.
Makama said the air strikes targeted a group of suspected ISWAP fighters, with personnel observed at the location assessed to be members of the terrorist group.
Two gun trucks were reportedly destroyed during the strikes, with one of the vehicles completely burnt.
Following the attack, surviving fighters were seen attempting to evacuate wounded members from the area.
“Terrorists were seen towing another damaged vehicle while evacuating several wounded fighters around Gudumbali, apparently moving towards the Lake Chad area,” Makama said.
The exact number of fighters killed or wounded was not immediately established, while the identities of any senior ISWAP commanders who may have been among the casualties were still being verified.
Further battle damage assessment and intelligence gathering are expected to provide more details on the casualties.
Makama said the air operation forms part of ongoing military efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to disrupt ISWAP formations and restrict their movement and logistics across the North-East.
