JIgawa court begins hearing on APC House of Reps primary election petition

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Federal High Court sitting in Dutse has commenced hearing a suit filed by House of Representatives aspirant Elyakub Nabayi, challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election that produced Hussaini Adamu Jabo as the party’s candidate for the Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa federal constituency seat.

During the court session, which was conducted via Zoom, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Zaharadden Jamilu, told the court that his client was dissatisfied with the conduct of the primary election. He alleged that irregularities and electoral malpractice occurred in three wards during the exercise.

Barrister Baffa Alasan, counsel to the APC and the defendants, argued that the primary election was conducted in accordance with all relevant electoral guidelines and legal provisions, insisting that there were no irregularities in the process.

Following arguments from both parties, the court adjourned the case to July 2, 2026, to allow both sides to present their witnesses and further evidence.
