Kebbi By-Election: ADC Says Low Voters Turnout Signals Growing Dissatisfaction With APC

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State has described the low voter turnout recorded during the Zuru State Constituency by-election as a sign of growing public dissatisfaction with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). 

In a statement signed by the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Abubakar Musa, the ADC expressed concern that despite the APC’s control of the state government and the presence of top government officials and party leaders in Zuru, voter participation remained very low.

The party alleged that senior government functionaries, including the Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, party executives, and other stakeholders, were present during the election in an apparent effort to mobilise support for the ruling party.

According to the ADC, the APC’s inability to secure what it described as significant voter participation from the over 109,000 registered voters in Zuru Local Government Area reflects increasing dissatisfaction among the electorate.

The opposition party argued that the outcome should serve as a wake-up call for the government to pay greater attention to the needs and aspirations of the people.

The ADC maintained that the low turnout demonstrates the desire of citizens for a new direction anchored on accountability, transparency, and good governance.
