Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has convened another emergency security meeting as part of renewed efforts to contain emerging security challenges in some parts of the state.
The meeting, held in Birnin Kebbi, brought together heads of security agencies and key government officials to review the current security situation and strengthen the state’s security architecture.
Briefing journalists after the closed-door session, the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Haliru Wasagu, said the engagement was necessitated by the need to protect lives and property across the state.
According to Wasagu, deliberations focused on assessing existing strategies, identifying gaps, and fine-tuning operational responses to ensure a more coordinated approach to emerging threats.
He stated that Governor Idris directed security agencies to intensify patrols, surveillance, and intelligence gathering in flashpoints identified during the review.
The Commissioner stressed that the governor remains unwavering in his commitment to safeguarding residents and creating an enabling environment for economic activities to thrive.
“Our Governor is fully committed to flushing out criminal elements and dismantling their hideouts. Anyone found engaging in criminal activities will face the full weight of the law,” Wasagu quoted the governor as saying.
He added that the administration has continued to invest in logistics, mobility, and welfare for security personnel to enhance their effectiveness on the ground.
Wasagu also appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid in the identification, apprehension, and prosecution of criminal elements.
He emphasized that public vigilance and collaboration with security operatives remain critical to winning the fight against crime and maintaining peace in communities.
The Commissioner further commended the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifices of security agencies for their sustained efforts in ensuring peace, stability, and public safety across Kebbi State.
