Real Madrid forward, Kylian Mbappe has conveyed his belief that his team will reclaim their status as major title contenders this season. Los Blancos have experienced two consecutive seasons without securing a significant trophy.
Since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu two summers ago on a free transfer following a highly successful period with Paris Saint-Germain, Madrid has been unable to clinch the league title, losing out to Barcelona in two successive seasons.
Additionally, the Blaugrana triumphed over their rivals in consecutive Supercopa Espana finals, resulting in a trophyless season for Los Blancos in 2025-26, during which they were eliminated in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and the Round of 16 in the Copa del Rey.
With the return of former manager, Jose Mourinho to the Bernabeu for a second term this summer, having previously managed the club from 2010 to 2013, Mbappe expressed optimism that significant titles may soon be within reach.
“We have to win, and I think this year we [Real Madrid ] are going to win titles,” Mbappe said via Madrid Xtra.
He added, “I’m sure we’re going to come back. We’re going to stay focused all year.”
Mbappe recently ended a remarkable 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in North America with France, becoming the tournament’s all-time leading scorer with 22 goals.
He also made history by becoming the first player to win multiple Golden Boot awards, netting 10 goals and providing four assists as Les Bleus finished in fourth place, losing 2-0 to eventual champions Spain in the semi-finals and 6-4 to England in the third-place match.
