LaLiga: Vinicius Jr facing ban for El Clasico after red card against Villarreal

Daily Post 41 minutes 1 mins read

Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Junior could be banned from the clash with Barcelona after receiving a straight red card against Villarreal on Saturday night.

Vinicius Jr was introduced as a substitute in the second half of the match after Yan Diomande had given Los Blancos the lead.

The Brazilian thought he had scored his team’s second goal of the game, but an incident involving him pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair changed the course of events.

Referee Isidro Diaz de Mera reviewed the incident on the VAR monitor and subsequently sent Vinicius Jr off.

The 26-year-old reacted with disbelief and stormed off, vehemently protesting the decision, while his teammates had to pull him away.

Pending the referee’s report, Vinicius Jr could face a suspension that would see him miss the first Clasico of the season against Barcelona, scheduled to take place at Camp Nou on October 25.

He will definitely miss Real Madrid’s match against Sevilla next week.
