LaLiga: Why I substituted Vinicius Jr against Elche – Mourinho

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has explained why he took Vinicius Junior off during their 3-2 win over Elche in LaLiga on Tuesday.

Mourinho replaced Vinicius Jr with Brahim Diaz in the 68th minute of play.

The Brazilian failed to score as Carlos Espi’s late winner ensured Madrid took all three points.

Matias Dituro’s own goal had given the visitors the lead, before Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0.

But goals from Abiel Osorio and Fer Nino saw Elche draw level.

Mourinho was quick to praise Vinicius Jr’s contribution to a hard fought victory.

He said: “Vinicius Jr did a great job defensively, he helped us a lot.

“He was very tired at the end, that’s why I subbed him out.”
