LASEMA denies report of second building collapse in Lagos

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that another building collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Friday by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA said emergency officials were immediately dispatched to the reported location after receiving the information.

According to the agency, a comprehensive assessment and search of the area revealed no evidence of any second building collapse.

Oke-Osanyintolu urged residents to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it on social media, warning that false emergency alerts could undermine response operations.

He explained that the spread of inaccurate reports diverts critical emergency resources, weakens operational efficiency and could delay interventions in genuine emergencies where lives and property may be at risk.

“The Agency appreciates the vigilance of Lagosians and encourages the public to continue reporting emergencies through the appropriate channels while allowing first responders to verify incidents before information is widely circulated,” he said.

The permanent secretary reiterated that under the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, LASEMA and other emergency response agencies remain committed to safeguarding lives and property through swift, coordinated and professional emergency operations.
