Man Arrested For Writing Civil Service Promotion Exam For Father In Abuja

InformationNG 1 day 2 mins read

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has reportedly been caught impersonating his father during a promotion examination for staff of the FCT Civil Service.

Monsuru was apprehended on Wednesday, the third day of the examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja.

According to reports, security personnel deployed to monitor the examination on the orders of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike discovered the alleged impersonation and arrested Monsuru.

The minister’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, said Monsuru told security operatives that his father, Musa Mohammed, was ill but was also present on the university premises.

During questioning, Monsuru allegedly confessed that his father had asked him to sit for the promotion examination on his behalf.

However, investigators reportedly became suspicious after asking about his father’s age. Monsuru claimed that his father was between 67 and 68 years old, while Musa Mohammed reportedly told authorities that he would turn 60 in February 2027.

Further checks revealed that Mohammed completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Following the incident, both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the State Security Service (SSS).
