One Muhammed Lowe, a resident of Jabang in the West Coast Region yesterday pleaded guilty before the Brusubi Magistrate Court for stealing the mobile phone of his mother, Ndey Jabour, valued at D7,500. Lowe was arraigned on a single count of stealing.
According to police prosecutors, on 29th July while at their home in Jabang, he took a Samsung phone belonging to his mother on the pretext that he was going to make call to his sister, but then disappeared.
The prosecutors told the court, Lowe went to the Serekunda black market where he sold the phone. The mother reported the case to the Latriya Police Station and the accused person was subsequently arrested and charged with stealing.
When he appeared before the court, Lowe pleaded guilty to the charge and in his plea of mitigation before sentencing, begged the court to have mercy on him saying he is a businessman and was of poor health.
The matter was has been adjourned to 1st September 2026 for sentencing. Lowe remains remanded at Mile 2 Prison.
