Two Nigerian students, Akota-Chika Serena and Tolulope Israel Adekimi of Caleb-British International School (CBIS), Magodo and Lekki, Lagos, have made the country proud after emerging as the world’s top performers in English Language and Mathematics respectively in the 2025 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations conducted by the Cambridge International Examination Council.
Akota-Chika clinched the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award for her exceptional performance in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement), while Adekimi was honoured with the same award for his outstanding results in Mathematics.
Reacting to their achievement, both students credited the combined efforts of CBIS’s academic and non-academic staff, who they said remained committed not just to their educational growth and well-being, but also to producing quality manpower for national development.
Speaking on the feat, the Director of Caleb Group of Schools, Dr. Ola Adebogun, said the students’ performance had earned global recognition for Nigeria, describing it as a source of pride for the school group and a reflection of the students’ intelligence and rigorous preparation.
According to Dr. Adebogun, the school’s adherence to quality standards under both the Nigerian and British integrated curriculum has reaffirmed the institution’s core mission of producing accomplished, ambitious young people of proven integrity who are ready to contribute meaningfully to society.
He explained that CBIS, Magodo, and CBIS, Lekki, were established with the goal of developing every child into a confident, happy and well-rounded individual, anchored on the belief that the development of the mind and body, the enrichment of the intellect, and consideration for others form the foundation for lasting success.
“At Caleb Group of Schools, we offer a competitive environment, yet one that actively seeks to promote achievement in every child and sometimes that achievement is simply by taking part and the opportunities and facilities we offer our children are second to none, hence our frequent success at both national and international levels, which speak for itself,” he said.
He further noted that the school group invests heavily in cutting-edge teaching methods, ranging from flipped classrooms to AI-driven language labs, to help every student discover their potential and lead with confidence.
Dr. Adebogun also pointed to the group’s emphasis on due process, recruitment of high-quality staff, and strict compliance with quality assurance standards set by government and regulatory bodies as key factors behind the consistent success of its students in national and international examinations and competitions.
He attributed the numerous laurels won by the Caleb Group of Schools, both locally and internationally, to its foundation as a faith-based institution that blends moral instruction with quality education, all within a serene learning environment.
“It is at Caleb Group of Schools that every child has a fair chance of fulfilling his or her dreams and here we offer a competitive environment where focussed young minds are nurtured to achieve their full potentials,” he stated.
As Visitor to Caleb University, Dr. Adebogun further noted that graduates of the Group of Schools have continued to distinguish themselves globally, both in character and academics, noting that the institution has consistently produced disciplined young men and women who excel in further studies and thrive in their chosen fields.
“At Caleb Group of Schools, we insist on doing it right always, more so that our core values are Godliness, innovation, service, integrity, teamwork, excellence and creativity,” he added.
