Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

Lionel Messi is set to break four Argentina national team records that may never be broken.

According to Foot Mercato, the Inter Miami forward will play his farewell match for the Argentina national team against Benin, where he is expected to set four unbreakable records.

Messi will play his last national team match in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, which will be his 207th cap.

The 39-year-old has currently scored 125 goals for Argentina, with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez being the closest active player with 42 goals.

The former Barcelona captain also holds the record for most appearances for Argentina, with 206 caps, and only Javier Mascherano and Angel di Maria follow with 147 and 145 appearances, respectively.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is also the record holder for World Cup appearances and goals for Argentina, with 34 appearances and 21 goals.

Additionally, the former Paris Saint-Germain star shares the record for most goals in South American World Cup qualifiers with Luis Suarez, both having scored 31 goals.

Moreno Martins and Hernan Crespo have scored 22 goals and 19 goals, respectively and are no longer playing for their national teams.
